I long to watch you

set your passion free,

to see you liberated

by the tempo 

of your heart.

Let me feel 

the mighty beat,

the pulse of 

your persuasion,

echo in my core,

let me be in synch 

with you as 

you perform like 

there is no

tomorrow.

Dance for you,

just for you, 

as if space and time 

no longer matter. 

Be reckless,

relentless and move

with ravenous hunger.

Arms arched,

limbs untangled,

hands curved

in plaintive pleading

for a crescendo 

chased by

the sudden silence 

heralding the end

of music.

Dance for us,

just for us, 

for you, for me,

and for all who sit so quietly,

for those who have aged

and can no longer dance,

and for those who wished 

they had half the chance

to move like you.

And dance, yes dance

for those you’ll inspire,

the next generation,

who will take your place,

position their feet,

and leap into

the dream.
